Sarah and Marks adventures

Mendoza exceeded our expectations, it is a beautiful town surround by vineyards and mountains and the weather was a perfect 25-28 degrees. Malbec is my favourite red wine and is made in Mendoza. We couldn't get over how cheap it was to buy there, a bottle which is normally £30 in London only cost £5 in the supermarket. If we weren't travelling for another 2 months I would have stocked up for NZ!

On our 2nd day we joined a biking tour of the vineyards and met a great group of people, we all got a long so well that we went out for dinner and drinks that night after the tour. We cycled 12km and visited 4 wineries and 1 gin distillery. It was a picture perfect scene with the sun shining over the beautiful vineyards and mountains framing the background. We bought two bottles of wine from one of the wineries to enjoy over Christmas.

The hostel we stayed in had a friendly atmosphere and they even hosted an asado (Argentinian BBQ) one night where we paid £6 each for unlimited wine and BBQ'd meat. It was a mixed group of 14 people from the hostel who enjoyed the asado. They were from Spain, France, America and Chile. During dessert the Chilean guy brought out his guitar and starting playing, he was an incredible guitarist and had an amazing voice. Once we had finished eating the Spanish girls put on their music and it turned into a dance party in the backyard.

Whilst in Argentina we also wanted to stay on a ranch and experience the life of a Gaucho (a real life Argentinian cowboy) but as it turns out its a major tourist attraction so they charge tourist prices. As we couldn't afford to do this we opted for a horseback riding tour which included a ride to top of a hill to watch the sunset followed by another asado and more red wine.

We loved our time in Mendoza and if the budget allowed we would have liked to have tried the white water rafting, the wine tasting whilst skydiving (yes this is a thing) and also hiked up one of the
mountains that surround Mendoza. We would highly recommend it as a place to visit if you love red wine and aren't a vegetarian.
