Cookie Para Mi

We arrived quite late into Vegas and found that even though it was after 7:30pm, our room was not yet available. So after the hectic check in, we were let into a temporary room and rushed around trying to get the three of us showered and out the door in 15 minutes. Katie had organised dinner at Mon Ami Gabi, so we raced there and had a fabulous night of great food and delicious sparkling.

Next day we set off in two groups, Katie and I hit the outlet shops and the others headed to the old town of Vegas, Fremont St. We had no luck at the shops and headed to meet everyone at The Heart Attack grill. A restaurant where you jump on the scales at the door and if you weigh over 150 pounds, you get to eat for free. Revolting. Lucky, we didn’t eat there and had a quick explore around the area. Adam had seen several disturbing things before we got there. The highlight being a morbidly obese lady sitting in her wheel chair, topless and wearing a wrestler’s mask on her face, leaving her gigantic sagging breasts flopped on her lap and offering a photo opportunity with an ‘out of work stripper’. Wow, what an opportunity. The area was full of buskers and unusual characters, a zip line that ran the length of the old strip, neon lights and a chance to gamble wherever you looked.

That night was our official celebration for Pauls birthday and Kath had organised for us to go to Tao for a baby free dinner. Flynn and Dob surprised Paul/us with a limousine transfer to the restaurant so we made the most of it and with sparkles and beers in hand we stopped in at the famous Las Vegas sign on the way. The restaurant was awesome, delicious cocktails at the bar to start and at the table a waiter who went above and beyond to really make our night. We decided the best option was to let the chefs decide on our food, so when our waiter bought a dish to the table and introduced it to us as ‘our autism chicken’ we lost it. We soon found out this meant some proceeds from the dish went to an Autism charity, but it opened the rest of the night up to some hilarious banter and inappropriate jokes. The centre piece of the restaurant was a giant Buddha with a fish pond full of huge golden fish. After a few drinks there were all sort of shenanigans which involved feeding the fish chop sticks and consuming Pauls giant wonton birthday cake in a not so lady like fashion. Simon and Sandra came for a quick cameo on their scooter which again had us in stitches. The night ended with us being the only customers left in the restaurant and a trip to the tables.

Hofbrauhaus was the next day’s adventure. Simon was keen for us to check it out, so we met them there for a late lunch. Everything there was oversize. The beers were gigantic, the pretzels huge and the boys were even lucky enough to have the opportunity to be spanked with an enormous wooden paddle by one of the bar maids. It looked painful. It was great to see Sandra and Simon again, we felt lucky to have met them back in Argentina.

For the last night I was keen to see a show and organised tickets for a girl’s night out to ‘The Beatles, LOVE’ by Cirque de Solei. We loved it, so many songs which reminded us of our childhoods when our parents would play the Beatles tunes. The costumes were colourful and the acrobatics spectacular.

Vegas was our last stop as a group and Adam and I decided that we couldn’t go past Mexico as our final destination. So, to Cabo we went.
