Sitting at 3052 meters above sea level, we arrived into Huaraz after a relatively short bus journey. After checking in we went for a wander to find some lunch. We were wrapt to bump into Kelly and Doug who we met months before on our San Blas tour. What were the chances!
We ended up spending the majority of the next two days with them. So lovely to have some familiar faces and not the same old travel chat.
We hired a taxi together the following day and drove out to the Huascaran National Park, to attempt the Laguna Cherup trail. This hike was different to the last, rocky surfaces to scale, rain to contend with and a slightly lower altitude. At the top was a lake with rocky cliff faces and huge boulders to climb. Given the grey skies, the lake wasn’t showing its usual crystal blue glory, but it was beautiful all the same.
Adams knee held up also so it was reassuring that all of his rehab post the incident in Minca was paying off.
We were wrapt that the hostel we stayed in allowed us to light a fire in the fire place that night so it was a cozy end to a wet day of hiking!
