Friday we had to go register for our stay in Bangalore at the immigrant center. Either way we had to be at the Christ Univerisitys’ international office at 9:30. Luckily we already adjusted a little bit to the Indian culture and were 5 minutes late. That didn’t really matter because we had to wait for 45 minutes anyway. After we were finally helped at the international office we had to wait again for half an hour. Then we had to go to a bureaucratic building were they would handle your residence permit. We arrived there at 11:00 and after a lot of waiting (luckily I brought my book) we were done at 17:15. The only time we could go outside is when they employees had lunch. So it basically took us a whole day to obtain some paper with signatures and stamps that is apparently important. During all the waiting I met a woman from the U.S. who was apparently the inventor of E-learning. She told me about the start up she was working on in Bangalore that was going to be really big. It was nice to talk to her because she was into tech just like myself. We talked about the big tech companies located in Bangalore and about the work she did in the United States, for example she had been working for Google and Apple and used to be an internet pioneer back in the early days of the world wide web. After a while she was done with her visa and the rest of us still had to wait for a few hours. When we were finally home at 18:00 we went out for dinner, noodles and south Indian meal since one meal is not always enough here. When we were finished we walked back to our apartment but were approached by a woman who heard us talking Dutch. To our surprise she was Dutch as well and we decided to go to a bar named Banana bar to have a drink and chat about life in Bangalore. The woman we just met was working as freelancer to teach in crowd funding. We had some drinks at the bar which was a great place to be! So I’m sure that we will visit it more often.
