Dodda Ganeshana Gudi
Last Sunday we went to Dodda Ganeshana Gudi which is a Hindu temple where there is a statue of a big bull inside. This bull is the demi-god Nandi and is a close attendant of Shiva (a Hindu god). The temple we visited is believed to be the biggest temple worldwide devoted to Nandi. To be honest, the temple was not very big but the statue inside almost filled the whole room. When we entered the temple, after taking our shoes of, we were welcomed by a religious figure who gave us some information and a little flower and then asked for tips... ofcourse. The Dodda Ganeshana Gudi temple is located in the Bugle Rock park so we walked through the park which was quite nice. A fun thing we saw there was that some trees were packed with bats hanging in the trees. After the park we came across a Subway and I could not resist to buy a foot long Italian B.M.T. which I enjoyed quite a lot.

Bangalore National Park
The next Sunday we went to the Bangalore National Park. We left early morning at 8 o’ clock. Then we had a one-hour bus ride and a 30-minute walk before we arrived at the National Park gate. We decided to take a combo pack, which included a safari and zoo ticket. It’s a bit weird that the price for foreign people was 200 rupees more then for Indian people but whatever let’s just deal with it. Our safari tour started at 10 o’ clock in the safari bus. This was just a regular public transport bus with some bars in front of the windows. Luckily we got some good seats and short after started to ride on the narrow roads toward the first gate. The animals are all kept separately in fenced areas. Some of the area’s were really small, this way it was really easy for the drivers to locate the animals and get up close without leaving the road. For example, there were 2 white tigers who were kept in an area that was approximately 100 square meters. Not something I’d call a safari. During the ride we saw elephants, lions, tigers, white tigers and antelope.
The bus drivers took a lot of pictures for us and said that they had given me a good seat so I had to pay them some tips. First I said that I would not because the ticket was expensive enough and when they kept asking I wanted to give them a little bit but they would not take it. After the safari we went to the zoo and we saw some snakes, birds, monkeys and crocodiles. One of the monkeys was cheeky enough to steal Jolie’s ice-cream right out of her hand and then after he finished the ice-cream he stole some water from other people. It was really funny to experience. So in the conclusion, the safari and zoo were not that great as we had hoped but it was still a lot of fun.
