My Rome

The Trevi is a fountain designed by Italian architect Nicol Salvi. The fountain stands at 86 feet high and 161.3 feet wide, which makes it the largest Baroque fountain in the city and is one of the most famous fountains in the world. The fountain is at the junction of three roads and marks the terminal point of the modern aqueducts. This aqueduct supplied water to ancient Rome for more than 400 years. The façade depicted is made out of white sculpted marble and showcases the Roman god of the sea Neptune front and center. Standing to his left and right are sculptures depicting good health and fortune and this is all background to the massive ornate waves seen out front with other sea related sculptures. The Trevi fountain is an iconic landmark and contributes to Rome as a whole through the artistic side of this fountain and the genius engineering of the aqueducts.
