Seward, Alaska

I'm not sure just how much beauty and majesty one can absorb in an 18 day period. Banff and Jasper, Denali, the mountains around Anchorage, and then today the Seward Highway, maybe as pretty a 100 mile stretch as I have ever seen anywhere. As you leave Anchorage you soon find yourself on the water as the road parallels Cook Inlet and then the Turnagain Arm. Between the mountains and the water, the rivers and the lakes, this is simply an incredible stretch of beauty and majesty. I kept asking myself when this would stop, only to find our destination, Seward, completely surrounded on three

sides by these beautiful, snow-capped mountains. Janet turned to me at one point and said, "Pictures just can't do this justice." So true, but for memory sake, I just keep snapping away.

Once in Seward we spent a little bit of time in this quaint old town, and then had dinner at Ray's, overlooking the harbor with hundreds of small sailing boats, tour boats, and of course, fishing boats. Talking about fishing, when we were leaving the dock area after dinner we came upon one groups catch as they were weighing their catches for the day. Take a look at the picture. Pretty clear case of a thousand words can't describe what one picture can.

I'll also try and include a photo of our campsite. Great spot, just 5 miles or so outside of Seward. And that building you see - the Alyeska Resort. Gorgeous!
