Minneapolis, Minnesota
Flew into Minneapolis late morning yesterday, packed, excited and ready to go. Before we venture off for the Alaska part of our trip (and certainly the main part of the trip) we came a day early so we could visit some of Janet's cousins. We don't get to Minneapolis very often and it was great to see some of them. This morning we ventured over to see some of our friends from 30 years ago. Bill and Ruth left Detroit many years ago to have Bill teach at North Western College (now University). On April 28 he had hip replacement surgery after the first try left some room for improvement. After a nice visit we
stopped off at a Subway to get dinner for the trip on the charter bus down to Forest City, Iowa. We discovered that we were on the 3rd of three charter buses that had gone out from the airport this evening, which of course left us wondering just how many motorhome's might be going out on this adventure. Considering that only half of the motorhomes would go out tomorrow morning, we finally concluded that there were upwards of a 100 new motorhomes heading out on their own to Anchorage from Winnebago's headquarters. Bus ride this evening went by quickly and we are anxiously awaiting the orientation tomorrow morning and then getting out on the road for the start of our trip.
We are in our motorhome this evening and it is really nice. Quite a change from the lemon we had in Utah last year. Probably won't get off until about noon tomorrow as we have an orientation to go to, but I'll let you know for sure tomorrow evening.
