Yesterday, Easter Sunday, I arose early to watch sunrise but low clouds and misty skies prevented that until mid-morning; in the afternoon I made the short drive into TX. Today I had a list of a few tourist things that I wanted to do. First, I stopped by the Clifton Steamboat Museum, did the complete tour which profiled not only the era of steamboat use in the USA but also had a very complete military aviation and Boy Scout section--strange combination. The front of the museum was dwarfed by the retired tugboat Hercules which was operated by Sabine Transportation from 1938 until 1991. My second stop was the Beaumont Botanical Gardens; they have a really nice hot-house (lots of camellias) and a nice walking path garden. The last day's stop was at the nearby Babe Zaharias Museum; a Beaumont resident, she excelled in the 1932 Olympics and later had a very successful amateur/professional golf career, winning 82 events.
