I have spent most of the past week visiting two former Navy friends in Houston and New Braunfels. Kent, Brink and I went to flight school together in Kingsville (TX), did advanced training in San Diego and were assigned to the same squadron in Jacksonville. Although I did see Brink in 2000, it had been since 1982 since I had seen Kent. Yes, there was a lot of catching up to do. I did visit the Guadalupe River State Park a few days ago and enjoyed wandering around the river/trails. The "hill country" of Texas with its rolling terrain, rivers and foliage contrasts significantly to that of the Del Rio area's sparse and scrubby appearance.
