This week has seemed longer than the others, for reasons I haven't figured out.. Anyway, like I said on Sunday, we had our last soccer game of the season on Monday. Unfortunately, the game was tied 0-0 after regular time and the teacher decided to go straight to PK's. Even though Duc, our goalie, had a fantastic save, a couple of our players whiffed on their shots and we lost the game. It wasn't as great a start to the week as I expected but other than the very end, the game was exciting so it wasn't too bad. I will miss all the extra soccer practices though..
All week we've been preparing for a big event on Friday to celebrate our teachers. I think this week is Teacher Appreciation Week (or something like that) in Vietnam. To thank our teachers, each class has created something different. For our class, Duc Anh took photos of our teachers, and we put them together into a big book that we'll present to our teachers on Friday. In the library I saw some kids being interviewed about their favorite teachers and others were making art pieces similar to the book our class put together. Ms. Thuy, my English teacher, has been busy all week with Quy and The Anh to prepare

Ms. Thuy, my English teacher, has been busy all week with Quy and The Anh to prepare
for the event on Friday. I'm not sure what the whole show will be like but apparently we're all supposed to meet in the gym tomorrow at 8:30 for a whole morning of teacher appreciation and student performances. The Anh was recruited to be one of the MC's so he's told me a little about the assembly but I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see how the whole show comes together.
Next weekend I'm hoping to go on an outdoor rock climbing trip! I was originally planning on an overnight trip but all the different travel groups I looked into didn't work out. Instead, I'm planning for a day trip with Vietclimb since they offer guided outdoor trips. I'm a little concerned about the timing since they haven't responded to my phone call or emails but I'll be calling again tomorrow because I really want to go!! I also want to go next Saturday because it will be Black Friday in the US and REI has their "Opt Outside" movement where they're closing their stores and encouraging people to go outdoors instead of going shopping. I know my mom and dad are planning to go on a little walk or hike while they're in Portland for Thanksgiving so - if the trip goes through - it will be a cool way to connect with them across the globe. Thanksgiving at the Rech's is my favorite holiday so I'm really sad to miss it this year but I've made a pact with myself to be there next year, no matter how near or far I have to travel from school.
Anyway, I'm off to bed now, thanks for reading and have a great rest of your week!
