Because I've had an uneventful weekend due to some unfortunate stomach pain on Friday, I thought I would instead share some of the things I've learned during my first week here in Vietnam. Enjoy!
1. Though I'm of average size and stature in Vietnam, people still think I'm younger than I am.
2. The traffic is crazy.
3. Smoking indoors is legal and practiced frequently.
4. People don't wear helmets.
5. American pho does not taste like Vietnamese pho.
6. I surprisingly don't like naptime.
7. School food is actually good.
8. While I'm mediocre (at best) at basketball in the US, I'm actually pretty good at it here.
9. Privacy is an unknown concept.
10. As is personal space.
11. From my experience, nobody likes sour foods.
12. If a door is open, or even closed, it is an invitation to come in.
13. Everybody goes to summer school.
14. I miss American food more than I thought I would.
15. Only one person in my class knows who Beyoncé is.
So these are some things I've learned, take them as you will. Sorry for the short post, I'm sure I'll write a more detailed one later this week. As always, thanks for reading, I had a fun time compiling the list!
