My friend Kate was getting married in December so a group of girls
took her to Phuket for her hen do. Phuket was the perfect place for a
hen do as you could relax during the day in a beautiful villa and then
party at night. There were 1o of us in total and we arrived late on the
Friday night. Our villa was located at Surin beach perched up on a hill
overlooking the sea. The villas was huge and had loads of outdoor
space and an infinity pool. We each shared a double bedroom and had our own bathrooms. A couple of the girls arrived early and decorated the pool house with pink banners, balloons and other decorations which looked fantastic. We stayed in the first night and
drank champagne and listened to music.
The next day we had a delicious breakfast made by the villas chefs.
They gave us fresh juice, fruit, coffee, omelettes and croissants. After breakfast we walked down the steep hill to the beach. The beach was
lined with shops, restaurants and beach clubs. Under the palm trees
tourists were having Thai massages on the beach. The deck chairs had
been removed from the beach so we had to lie on our towels. We went
for a swim and lay on the beach for a bit until it started raining. We
ran up the very steep hill back to our villa. We were then greeted by
another delicious meal prepared by the staff. This time we had local
Thai salads, fish cakes and curries. The food was spicy but delicious.
In the afternoon we had massages in our villa. I chose to have an
aromatic massage but they still cracked my back. Then it was time for the partying to start! We spent the rest of the afternoon drinking by
the pool. At around 6pm it was time to get dressed and we all got dolled up in high heels and dresses while the hen was put into a pink
tutu with a sash and tiara. Once we had finished our drinks we

tutu with a sash and tiara. Once we had finished our drinks we
jumped into a minivan and drove to Phuket Town. After about an
hour we finally made it to the infamous Ka Jok See Restaurant. The restaurant didn't look like anything fancy from the outside and the
decoration inside was traditional. The restaurant was packed and we
were the last to arrive. We got to our table and immediately started
ordering more drinks. We ate a delicious 5 course meal then the party
started. Even before the music started we were up dancing in between the tables. The tables were then pushed to one side and out came 2
lady boys dressed up in drag and they started to sing. Everyone was
suddenly up on their feet dancing. The staff knew how to get the party started and they pumped up the music and started handing out bongo drums, party hats and tambourines. The hen was up on her feet and dancing on the table. Then came the raining men song and water started falling from the ceiling as we danced under umbrellas. It was a truly surreal night but one of the best I have had in Asia. We made it
back to our villa around 2am and went swimming.
The next day everyone was feeling a little delicate. We had another
delicious breakfast and talked about the previous night’s activities.
Those that were staying for the day had another massage and relaxed
by the pool in the sun until it was time to get back on the plane to
Singapore.
