Soon after arriving in Singapore we decided to go to Bali for our first
holiday. It was an easy decision and one that was well worth the cost.
We stayed in a private villa on the outskirts of Seminyak. The villa
was in the traditional Balinese style and had its own pool. It was the
perfect oasis to relax and unwind.
Before leaving for Bali we were recommended by a friend to go to
Potato Head Beach Club. So on our first day we ventured out of the
villa on the hunt for Potato Head Beach Club. As soon as we walked into the club I could see why so many people had told us to go there.
The beach club had an amazing atmosphere, with delicious food and
views out to sea. So it was no wonder that we ended up staying there all day and all night.
On our second day we explored a bit further and went to our second
recommendation of the trip, Bodywork's Spa. The spa was probably one or the more high end spa's in Seminyak and therefore came with a higher price but it was definitely worth the money. Until that day I
had never been a huge fan of massages but I'm pretty sure they
changed my mind. After a very relaxing massage we stumbled across a Mexican bar/restaurant where we ate nachos and guacamole and drank beer. Seminyak was full of cool bars and cafes and boutique
shops. On our third day we tried our hand at surfing. We made our
way down to the beach and found the Double D surf school where we
signed up for a two hour lesson. We were both standing up after the
second try and thoroughly enjoyed playing around in the waves. This
was finished off with a beer and a massage before making our way

back to our villa (via the shops!).
We ate in some fantastic restaurants in Seminyak. Sarong and La
Lucciola were the highlights. The first restaurant we went to was La Lucciola. This was an Italian restaurant located on the beach overlooking the sea. It was set within a wooden two story building decorated with fairy lights and candles. The atmosphere was amazing and the food was even better. The second restaurant we went to was called Sarong. This was just a short walk from our villa and was set in a huge Balinese oasis with lanterns and cushions. The food was incredible and the atmosphere was funky modern chic.
On the last day we decided to visit the Tanah Lot temple. We were
told by our hotel that it would take us a long time to reach the temple,
so we set off in plenty of time, with the anticipation that we would get there far too early, when we got stuck in traffic. It seemed that the
whole of Bali had the same idea. We crawled to the temple and arrived just before sunset. It was a very popular attraction with tourists at sunset and sunrise and therefore extremely busy but it was well worth the trip. The temple was nestled on top of a rock that could only be reached by an arch-way over the sea. We took some fantastic photo's of the sun setting over the temple before eating at a restaurant perched on the clifftop. This was our only error. The seafood was not fresh and the kitchen was not clean and we both went away with bad stomachs. The next day we had to leave early to catch our plane back to Singapore. As we left we had a feeling that we would be back again very soon.
