My diary

Woke up today for our last day in Paris. Looking out the window we could see that it was another grey day but was forecast to be about 13 degrees so not as cold as it has been. We had talked about going out to Versailles today but decided instead to stay in Paris and see a bit more of the local sights. It was another slow start, chocolate croissants this time for breakfast then off to the metro. Our first stop today was Montmarte and the Sacre Cur. There were a large group of the yellow vest protesters in Montmare and up the hill to the Sacre Cur but they were peaceful and cause no trouble. The Sacre Cur was another amazing cathedral with beautiful stained glass windows. Montmarte is the highest point in Paris and we had a great view over the city from here. After looking around the cathedral we stopped for coffee and macrons in the main street then had a look around some souvenir shops.
We decided next to go back to the Trocadero as Lauren was keen to get some more photos in front of the Eiffel Tower. We stopped to have our packed lunch while gazing at the view of Eiffel Tower – need to make the most of this sight as who knows when any of us will see it again!
Our next stop was the Latin Quarter and Pantheon – we were rather in need of the toilet by this time so stopped for a coffee in a café so we could use their loo. It turned out to be good timing as it started to rain while we were inside but by the time

Paris

It turned out to be good timing as it started to rain while we were inside but by the time

we were finished and were walking to the Pantheon the rain had stopped. We had a nice wander around this area, admiring the old buildings including the Sorbonne university, the Pantheon and many other old buildings. Brianna described it very fittingly as the Fremantle of Paris.
Walking through the shopping area of the Latin quarter we felt like this was the bustling Paris of the locals rather than tourist area. We went into a clothing shop as we decided that we need to buy something from Paris so that when we wear it and someone says “I like what you are wearing” we can reply “Thanks, I bought it in Paris!!” Brianna bought a skirt, I got a top and Lauren got some earrings.
Then it was back onto the metro again and home to pack our bags ready for an earlyish departure tomorrow for the train to London. We decided to just walk to one of the local cafes for dinner and were very pleased that we did as we had a delicious meal then headed home to relax before bed. I feel like we have done heaps while we have been in Paris but at the same time have barely scratched the surface of all there is to do here.
