Laters London - MC and JD's adventure back to NZ

Today is another travel day. We are off to Cappadocia in central Turkey. When we were looking at travel options in Turkey, flying with Turkish Airlines to Kaysari, consistently rated one of the best airlines in the world, was one of the cheapest options. Flying it is.

We packed up and left our Istanbul hostel/flat and headed to Taksim square to find the bus to the airport. On the way we had some breakfast where the guy serving couldn’t believe that we had come from New Zealand, although we tried explaining we had really only come from London, and he gave us a free coffee. Finding the bus

Istanbul to Goreme, Turkey

Today is another travel day. We are off to Cappadocia in central Turkey. When we were looking at travel options in Turkey, flying with Turkish Airlines to Kaysari, consistently rated one of the best airlines in the world, was one of the cheapest options. Flying it is.

We packed up and left our Istanbul hostel/flat and headed to Taksim square to find the bus to the airport. On the way we had some breakfast where the guy serving couldn’t believe that we had come from New Zealand, although we tried explaining we had really only come from London, and he gave us a free coffee. Finding the bus

was not so easy as things have very few signposts here. We thought we were following the sign, but actually went the wrong way and ended up walking around the outside of the square. After talking to a friendly policeman, who thanked us for visiting his country while inadvertently pointing his gun at Crom, we found the bus.

The time for the bus to get to the airport is described as anywhere between 30 minutes and 1 and a half hours due to traffic. Luckily this trip took the first option and we arrived with plenty of time. On the flight we were fed and had free coffee, a treat after flying budget airlines in the UK. We were also sat beside a local from Kaysari who had a map of Turkey and was showing us everywhere that was good to visit and what to eat. Some great local tips!
We had a transfer to Goreme where we are staying. We were picked up and started the hour trip. This was broken up by the driver needing a toilet and cigarette break halfway and passing it off as a stop for us to get snacks!

Goreme is a beautiful town situated in the Cappadocia National Park. The main draw card here is the weird rock formations and the way that most of the town is carved into the hillside. We are actually staying in a cave hotel. A very cool setting.

After settling in we found some dinner, some of the best food so far, Turkish ravioli and a clay pot kebab were winners! Early start tomorrow so off to try and get some sleep.
