Laters London - MC and JD's adventure back to NZ

Time to clear out our noisy lockers and pack our bags again this morning. A quick breakfast at the hostel before 11am check out and then stopped down the road for a more leisurely coffee before heading to the train station.

As it turns out ALL high speed trains need reservations so we had another couple of hours to kill trying to update this on the slowest internet ever in the train station. But what a treat, the train was lush and even played an English movie on the way to Madrid. We noted a top speed of 297kmph on the way there and enjoyed some great views of the Spanish countryside. As we headed inland the temperature steadily rose and we enjoyed a temperate climate inside the beautifully air conditioned train!

We spent a long time finding our way around the central train station in Madrid but finally managed to book a couple of our trains further in advance, as well as leave our big bags in storage overnight since we have an early start to get to Granada tomorrow.

Barcelona to Madrid, Spain

A success was remembering (and working out how) to weigh and price all our fruit and vegetables at the supermarket!! However we made it back to find that we were in for a unique dining experience. The hostel we are in only supplies plastic cutlery and plates, and no sharp knives! Crom did a great job of prepping all the vegetables with a pizza slice and we enjoyed some Spanish Omelette, vegetables and salami for dinner whilst enjoying watching everyone try to fit their food in the overflowing fridge, you really take a risk every time you open it and it seems to be a running joke amongst the guests!

A slightly earlier night to catch up on a few zzzzs.
