John and Nancy's Excellent Adventure

Today we sadly left beautiful Grand Teton N.P. to head to Cody, Wyoming. We drove through the Absaroka Mountains which are beautiful but less dramatic than the Tetons. We got to Cody about 2:00pm and went for lunch before checking into our B and B called the "Roaming Cowboy Inn". It was filled with cowboy-related artwork and "stuff". It turns out that the owner's mother was an artist who painted pictures of horses and did bronzes as well.
After checking in we went to Old Trail Town, which is located on the site that Buffalo Bill chose for the location of "Cody City" in 1895. Because of flooding, Cody was moved to its present location. The buildings now displayed at Old Trail Town were moved from frontier towns. The collection now consists of 26 buildings, dating from 1879 to 1901, 100 horse drawn vehicles, an extensive collection of memorabilia from the Wyoming frontier and authentic Indian artifacts. Three of the buildings were used by the "Hole in the Wall Gang" which included Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The grave of Jeremiah Johnson is now located in Old Trail Town. He was immortalized by Robert Redford in the movie of the same name.
We then went to dinner at Bubba's, a recommended barbecue restaurant.
