Jamille & Sacha's Americas trip

We've decided to return to New Orleans via Texas and Little Rock, Arkansas seems like a good place to stop overnight. Before we leave town though, we go out of our way to stop at a place famous for Nashville's Hot Chicken. It's a 30 minute line up just to order at this tiny shop and then another hour to wait for our number to be called but the chicken sure is hot.

It's a two lane highway to Little Rock and the roads are, as usual, dominated by trucks. Waving at trucks trying to get them to honk amuses us for quite a while.

We spend a quiet night in Little Rock and the next morning have the brilliant idea to do a hike in Pinnacle State Park. Keep in mind that the only exercise we've done in the last 3 weeks has been slow walking from bar to bar. Leaving Mum at a picnic table, Jamille and I start the 3km round trip. 3kms. Seems like a good, short hike to kickstart future exercising. I can do that.

I forgot to factor in the steep uphill incline. It's not long before I'm sweating and realising just how unprepared I am for South America. Too busy huffing and puffing, we don't notice the sign that says go left for the easy trail and right for the hard trail. We go right.

Eventually, it becomes just boulders and rocks and I have to take off my slippery sandals. Yes, I'm wearing flimsy sandals while everyone else is sensibly wearing joggers. Near the top, Jamille told me not to look down. So of course I did. Once my fear of heights kicked in, I refused to go any further. So close to the top. Instead, I sat down and enjoyed the cool breeze and the view from where I was.

The journey down wasn't much easier and I may have shuffled down on my bum for a while.

We stopped at a Goodwill store soon after while I bought a worn in pair of joggers. Not giving up yet....
