Jamille & Sacha's Americas trip

Flying from Chihuahua to San Cristobal, with an overnight stop in Mexico City, is much quicker than the alternative multi day bus option.

The hour long bus ride from Tuxla Gurreire airport to San Cristobal is both beautiful and hair raising, all uphill with views that are often straight down. By the end, it feels like we could touch the clouds if just reached out our hands. San Cristobal is a lovely, cobbled street town with a good music scene and thriving tourist industry. Our Airbnb flat is out of town and we happily walk through the local markets full of Indigenous people living their lives to reach the center each day.

A 3 day headache, nausea, feelings of lethargy and lack of appetite has me reaching for Dr Google and convinced I have mild altitude sickness even though we are a little less than the 8,000 miles where it usually kicks in. Jamille is sceptical of my self diagnosis but as she is not feeling well and needs an afternoon nap every day, I stick with my theory. Plans to hire scooters and explore the surroundings drift away in favour of short trips to town and nanna naps.
