Tubing

The bus only took 22 hours in the end and wasn't as bad as I had expected. I arrived in Vientiane in the afternoon but decided I wanted to move on straight away. I had limited time in Laos as I had just decided to spend xmas in Australia with the family rather than the south of Thailand. It meant I only had 3 weeks left in Asia and there were other places I wanted to visit. I caught another 4 hour bus 30 mins later to Vang Vieng.

I found a hostel which cost less than 2 pounds, although I spent 5 times that on weed from the hostel owner. I think he mainly used the hostel as a cover for his weed selling. The next day I met up with Pleun again and we went

tubing with 5 other girls she had met. I bought a bottle vodka before we left to save some money at the bars along the way.

We played some drinking games at the first bar, where I learned I am terrible at beer pong when I'm sober. Then we got on our tubes and drifted off. We stopped at 3 bars and had great fun with everyone. There was a mud pit volleyball court at the first bar, where we all got completely caked in mud. I couldn't remember too much from the end of the tubing apart from we returned late and got a fine.

That night we went out where, once again, I was hit on by some ladyboys. Luckily Pleun jumped to my rescue and pretended she was my girlfriend. Having had enough of the ladyboys and dancing I headed home after 2 street sandwiches.

The sandwiches in Vang Vieng were amazing and I must have averaged 5 a day while I was there. They were freshly made on the stall with bacon or chicken and I couldn't get enough, after eating only Asian food for 2 months. There where also bars there which constantly played family guy or friends on massive tv's. This made for some nice relaxing afternoons drinking beer.

We visited the Blue Lagoon very hungover. It was nice but very busy. We spent most of the day watching Koreans jumping in the water, scared shitless. That night I bought a 1 pound bottle of whiskey, drank it with some guys I just met and went to bed. Bus next morning to Luang Prabang.
