Flagstaff, Arizona

Flagstaff Arizona, holds a very special place in my heart. It was part of a life changing trip that I took at the age of 22. I had never been overseas before and I flew out of downtown Dubbo to Canada with no idea what lay ahead. I met a friend in Canada and together we visited Ontario, Quebec and Niagara Falls. We then headed down the east coast of the United States and then across the southern states.

Flagstaff was not on the itinerary - we stumbled across it on the way to the Grand Canyon. The scenery is breath taking, the people warm and welcoming and the Indigenous community so fascinating that it has sparked an ongoing passion of which I want to learn more.

This trip not only exposed a somewhat naïve country girl to the abundant wonders of the world.

It also taught her she was an independent woman who was in control of her own destiny.

It is when you wave goodbye to your own children at the Departure gates that those wonderful memories of your own adventures are revisited and you know that the baton has been passed on.
