We left Dublin Tuesday morning and now we are on our way to Kilkenny but first we stop at Glendalaugh, one of Ireland’s most beautiful visitors’ destinations. Glendalaugh as our tour guide explained is one of the most important monastic sites in Ireland and as soon as I started walking through it I could see already that is a place full of history and of a spectacular scenery.
The monastic city was founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century.
Learning about Glendalaugh was a valuable and interesting experience. Getting to explore the monastery and trying to imagining how monks lived was a nice chance for connecting with those times where Christianism played a big role in Irish History. In addition to this, the lakes and all the scenery surrounding the monastery was just beautiful. Glendalaugh was a very nice place for walking, learning and for being in contact with nature again.
