Since I was a little girl I was always fascinated with the idea of living in a castle. Kylemore Abbey, a benedectian monastery founded on the grounds of Kylemore Castle was definitely the activity I liked the most from our itenerary. It was a foggy and rainy day but that was exactly what made this visit so especial. The castle was surrounded by nature including a beautiful lake. The scenery seemed almost magic and mysterious.
Once inside the castle I was even more impressed. The tour guide explained that the castle was built by Mitchell Henry to show her wife Margaret how deeply in love he was of her. I found the story so unique and lovely. (At this point I am wishing that someone would also build a castle to show me his love haha)
After we explored the castle we went for a quick visit to the Gothic church, a cathedral-in-miniature built in memory of Margaret who died from dysentery in Egypt. The design was extraordinary!
