2018 Adventures
We arrived to our home-away-from-home - Infinity Blu Condo complex in Sosua, DR. This is our third time to Sosua and second time staying at Infinity Blu. Sosua is a small-but lively beach town on the North Coast of Dominican Republic. It is only a 10 min drive from the Puerto Plata International airport and about 20 mins from Cabarete - one of the most prominent water sports destinations in the Caribbean. It is an eclectic mix of expatriates working in off-shore drilling and gold mining; post-war immigrants (100,000 Jewish refugees); expatriates in search of the relaxed Caribbean life - now small business owners; Dominicans; Haitians; and a ton of tourists from Germany, Italy, Russia, USA and Canada - to only name a few.
We are joined here by 2 couples from Calgary (Dave and Shirley, Paul and Barb) 3 couples from Thunder Bay (Randy and Raquel, Duff and Holly, Kristine and Phil) and a few friends that we have made that live here permanently (Janninne). Roxy joined us this year for the first time and has adjusted well to her new environment. It sure is nice to have her down here for the 2 months.
Roxy’s preparation to come to the DR first included a visit to the vet for all of her annual vaccinations and booster shots. The next step was to obtain a certificate of health, vaccination certificate, vaccination record and a Canadian Food and Inspection Agency (CFIA) form filled out from our veterinarian. We then made an appointment at the CFIA with their veterinarian to validate and stamp her forms. Once arriving at the DR, we were shuttled over to a special room for inspection of her documents. $10 USD and an entry certificate and we were off and running.
Next stop... Infinity Blu and our home-away-from-home for the next 2 months.
