My diary

Up and out just after 9am today. It was another cold day, cloudy but still very fortunate that there is no rain.
Our first stop was Kensington Palace. It was very interesting to walk around the palace and see how it looked during the reign of Edward 1 and later on Queen Victoria. We learnt a bit about life during these times. Another area of the palace was set up in memory of Princess Dianna, with lots of her clothes on display and information about certain outfits that she had made for particular occasions. After soaking ourselves in palace history it was time for morning tea – and what else do you have but scones with jam and cream which we enjoyed in the palace café!

After leaving Kensington Palace, we walked through Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park to Harrods. Harrods was very busy and it was difficult to appreciate the beauty of the building itself with so many people thronging around. The girls were amazed by the size of the store and the variety of good available to buy. We found our way to the gift shop area and bought some Harrods souvenirs.
After escaping from Harrods before we spent all our money, we caught the tube to Madame Tussauds as we were booked in there at 2:45pm. We ate our packed lunch on the steps of a building across the road from Madame Tussauds and watched the great swarms of people coming and going.

Then it was our turn to go in. We spent the next couple of hours in Madame Tussauds, the wax models are all so amazing and very lifelike. Had fun taking our photo alongside movie stars and famous people. Part of the exhibition was a ride in a model London cab along tracks going past wax models

depicting London’s history, which was really well done and interesting. Another area was a 4D movie of some of the Marvel characters saving London from the evil menace – light hearted fun and nice to sit down for 15min.

We finished in Madame Tussauds at 4:30pm and went into a local pub – the Globe –for a drink and snack before heading home.
Caught the tube home and stopped at the Co-op at the end of our street to get food for dinner. The girls were on dinner duty tonight and they decided to make nachos.
After a very yummy dinner we were all ready to relax for a bit before heading to bed.
