Waking up at 5.30 am, I was so excited to see my first sunrise in Australia. Whoop Whoop. I went upstairs to the deck and waited for 30 minutes, as the sun would rise around 6.15 am. I waited and waited, and all of a sudden I saw Eric coming up and joined me. He asked me what I was doing, if I was scared again, but I told him that I woke up to see the sunrise. He started laughing and I felt like I just said the most stupid thing ever. After a few minutes I understood why he was laughing…. The sun was rising but you could not see it as it was hidden after the mountains… Of course… Awkward! Mission Sunrise: Not accomplished. At least I tried to:)
The rest of the group woke up at 7.00 am. After breakfast, we were able to snorkel until 9.00 am. Too bad the clarity of the sea was even worse than the day before. You could not see more than 5 fishes… And they looked all the same.
As the boat didn’t seem that far away, I decided to swim back. While I was swimming I had the feeling that I was moving my arms and legs, but my body was staying at the same position. The more I moved, the more I saw that I was drifting away to the left side. All of a sudden it was clear to me, the current was stronger than I expected. Trust me, by the time that I arrived back at the boat, it was not even 50m, I felt exhausted. The captain was laughing with me, as he already knew that the current was so strong. Think positive, I did some exercises:).
11.00 am : Arrival Airlie Beach = End of the trip = I SURVIVED!:).
In the afternoon I met Babs and Sydney. We went to the lagoon as Airlie Beach doesn’t really have a beach. This is the place where people search some refreshment. Because I wanted to travel further with Sydney and Babs, and our schedules didn’t match anymore, I called my travel agency, Ultimate Oz, and arranged that I could join them further to the north.
Later, in the evening, we went eating with the group of the Condor. Unfortunately not everybody was there, so I decided to go bed early.
