Arc de Triumph.
Wont give you a history lesson, only that this is a very cool monument. You are able to go to the top, but you have to climb a billion tiny marble stairs that go up in a spiral- half way up your huffing and puffing and slightly dizzy from going in so many tiny circles.
Reach the top and you have a panoramic view of Paris- including Eiffel. The Champs Elysees stretches out before like so many Roman roads, this is the focal point for any parades and celebrations the Parisians have. The view is good, but the thing with Paris is that the top view is simply a lot of rooftops- the odd monument, but really, you're just looking at houses.
Back on the ground I find the 'candle' that is always lit- again, no history lesson, but I believe its for all the soldiers that died in French wars.
Head down the Champs to find every store imaginable- including McDonalds- they have all your fav's plus macaroons, they are apparently very good. I see a few ladies wearing bright red lipstick and suddenly I'm missing mine. (I didnt pack it). So into Yves Rocher I go to find a sale! Yay!!! Got my lipstick and I'm feeling very much a
French woman as I wonder down the Champs.
Come up on the MAC store to see a stunningly beautiful man in an orange speedo behind an ironing board. They dont have that kind of advertising in Canada! I cant help it, I snap a photo just as the hottie looks at me. Oh, happy day.
Keep walking to come upon the Grand Palais and Petite Palais on my right. Hop on the tube, get off at Notre Dame.
