Notre Dame
I came upon Notre Dame like a kid playing peek-a-boo. I alighted the tube at Hotel de Ville and turned right to find just that- the massive Hotel de Ville. Ville has been the seat of Paris government and administration for decades, beautiful exterior.
Cross the bridge (which one I dont know) and follow the domineering towers of Notre Dame which stand above most of the other buildings. I approach from the left side and realize that I'm in time for 5:00 mass. I respectfully enter the building and was welcomed by the most beautiful singing. The acoustics are awesome, but she still needs a microphone so all can hear her. The inside layout is similar to Sacre Coeur, but better in my opinion.
I come closer to the stage and the priest (?) comes out and begins speaking, in French. Cool, I use this opportunity to sit and wright a little. It was so lovely in there, the music and words so melodic and soothing, I almost didnt realize I was being told lies.
I can see how these buildings played a big part of Christendom- its very romantic and in the absence of you tube, Netflix and Cineplex, I could see one wanting to spend a lot of time in this place, thus making oneself think they are extremely pious.
Such was life back in the day.
