My diary

I was the last girl of the group to arrive to France so I missed out on the first few days and interactions with the church that the others had. Then, the first Sunday that I was in France I was very ill, so I missed all of the services and that was a huge bummer. However, I did get to go to the Thursday night service that they have. Every Thursday, they have what is called Holy Spirit night which consists of all worship and some prophetic word. The Holy Spirit night was my first interaction with the church and its people. Mostly everyone was very welcoming and very kind. The pastors have great hearts and made me and the others feel at home. After the service, we all stayed to hangout with the members who stayed behind. We gave our McDonald’s orders to a few different people and they went out and got the food and we stayed at the church and ate together and started to get to know the people there. That night was very fun and it was fun practicing our French and also helping them practice their English. The people that we fellowshipped with that night, seem to be the main ones that still interact with us consistently when we cross paths at the church. Unfortunately, it has been a little more challenging to get to know other people and connect with them. There is a young adults group that will be starting in October, so we are hoping to connect better when that starts.

Before coming to France and to MLK, I really did not have a whole lot of expectations.I did not know much about it so I mostly just would wonder what it would be like. I truly do enjoy being at the church. I understand very little during any of the services at the church because I am still trying to build my vocabulary in the language. However, the worship is still amazing and the Holy Spirit truly still moves in you even if you're not understanding word for word was you're saying while you're worshipping and glorifying His name. I also love how diverse it is. Really, all of France is a lot more diverse that I had really expected.

We had a few different options to choose from to serve in the church. I am willing to serve wherever is needed, but I chose to serve in the kids ministry. I have a lot of experience working with kids at my own home church and abroad. I also believe that surrounding yourself with the simple talk of children really does help to learn another language.

So far I am really enjoying being at MLK and I love how strongly the Holy Spirit is working within it. I look forward to more experiences throughout my stay here.
