My diary

Toward the end of November Paris began to be decorated more and more for Christmas. Paige and I spent much of the day doing homework at a small cafe not too far from the Eiffel Tower. We stayed at the cafe all the way up until it closed. Instead of going back to the apartments after, we decided to find a small grocery store and buy baguette, cheese, sausage and mini pickles. After buying the food we walked to the Eiffel Tower and found a spot outside to sit and eat. We had the perfect up close view of the Eiffel Tower, and the place that we sat and had our little picnic was all decorated for Christmas. It was so fun eating to our (over)filling and being so close to the Eiffel. Later, Lauren and Esty met us at the Eiffel Tower and we decided to go to the top. We all paid for our ticket and stood in line until we were directed to a big elevator. Many people filled the elevator and began to go up through one of the legs of the Eiffel Tower. The elevator stopped about halfway up and we got out and enjoyed the view. I, however, have an extreme fear of heights, so even thought I was enjoying the beautiful views of the city of Paris, I was also shaking. We went up some stairs until we reach yet another elevator. This time this elevator went to the very top. When we got out of the elevator, we were very high, but I was not as nervous because it was an enclosed space with thick windows allowing you to see the view from inside. Then we went up some more stairs until we were at the very top, this time with just a thin railing and cage like thing keeping us all from the edge. It was so high and it was so cold and windy. I was so nervous and shaky that it was difficult to walk and keep still long enough to take a photo. The views were incredible and I am so happy that we did that, but the more and more we descended the more and more I calmed down. Hands down one of the coolest and most frightening experiences that I have had.
