LROCA MAINLAND 2016

Day 1. The team assembled in Wellington ready to board the Blue Bridge Ferry to Picton.

The wives of LR's 1, 4 and 8 met on the concourse and discussed the relative merits of husbands who were embarking on a 3 week Land Rover Tour around the South Island. Whilst their respective trucks were in tip-top condition, stories were shared including one about LR8 questioning his wife about her small bag of clothes and whether they were really needed. Apparently the bag was potentially taking up 'valuable real estate' in the back of the truck.

This story was met with disbelief from LR1 - mainly because her husband had driven off with a back door open and a young child hanging out of it. Feeling smug, LR4 looked with pitying eyes upon her fellow travelling wives - knowing that her husband only had eyes for her... Realising that divorces weren't imminent (yet) - the LROCA group found the lounge and settled in.

Our three hour journey, punctuated by sea sickness, coffee and head counts to ensure no one went over board - finally came to an end and touch down in Picton was marked by our first group photo. Convoy formed, we headed for Nelson and the Tahuna Beach Holiday Camp. The kids found the beach and Ray's dream had come to fruition.
