Day 2. The Porika and Braeburn track are just south of SH6 and these bike/off road tracks lead you to the beautiful Lake Rotoroa.

However, importance needs to be given to morning tea - and Richmond can be proud of their sausage rolls and ability to accommodate 10 Land Rovers whilst shopping for pastry goods.

It was the first off road track off the rank for LROCA Mainland tour and it didn't disappoint. Well to be fair - the mozzies were really irritating but it seemed a small price to pay for such beauty.

The draw of the lake on a hot day was too much and the first nakedness of the trip ensued. Them mozzies had a field day!

The lake is also reknown for its big fat eels. I didn't see one - so told the kids that said Eels were off for their Xmas break. I'm awesome at this whole eco-tourism-education thing.

The day ended at the Murchison camp ground. We were surprised to see that they had a wallaby, emus, some chickens, pigs and a Pukeko on a Ponga Tree!!!
