The story of Rome is a very complex one to comprehend. The city is thousands of years old and has seen several government shifts, artistic movement shifts, and religion shifts too. through its time. For the government, Italy has seen kingdoms, republics, fascist reigns, monarchies, and multi-party systems. For artistic movements, they have seen Etruscan art, Medieval art, Classical art, Baroque art, Renaissance art, and many more.In the beginning of Rome, they believed in Roman gods and goddesses and believed they needed to sacrifice to with animal blood, have spectacular festivals, and building magnificent sculptures and paintings in their name to ease their anger and be in their good fortune. Now a days, the most prominent religion in Rome is Christianity. This is the case because the most holy church in the Catholic Church is in the city itself, St. Peter’s Church. Technically the church is in the Vatican City, but the country is in the Roman borders so it counts. Because of this historical city, there is a lot of historical monuments and buildings spread throughout the city. From churches, sculptures, columns, buildings, and even the hills, the city of Rome is a treasure trove of art and history.
