The Trajan Column is at the tail end of the Trajan market and north of the Roman Forum. The column was built around 107-113 A.D. The Column was built in between the Augustus and Julius Forum. It is the youngest forum between the three forums: the Augustus Forum was built around 40 B.C., the Julius Cesar Forum was built around 20 B.C., and the Trajan Forum was built around 100 A.D. The column is the Capitoline Hill. The column is now very close to the Victor Emmanuel II monument. The Column is completely hollow. Probably made that way so it can be fixed from the inside. Its made easier because their is a spiral staircase inside it as well. It also was a piece of political propaganda to show how strong the Romans were. The story on the column is the story of the conquest of the Dacians during the Dacian War. The column has around 155 tiles on it and is 126 feet high. On top of the column, is a bronze statue of Emperor Trajan. On December 4, 1587, the top was crowned with a bronze figure of St. Peter by Pope Sixtus V.
