The Roman Forum was considered the public square of Rome centuries years ago. The forum would be used day by day from the government officials to the common man. The Roman Forum is in the middle of the Palatine and Capitoline Hills. This is important because on top of the Palatine Hills where were the rich politicians and war heroes would live like Augustus. The Capitoline Hill is where all the government officials have important meetings away from the citizens. Because of this, the forum is close to famous monuments while also being one. Next to the forum is the Colosseum, the Arch of Constantine, the Altar to the Fatherland, and the Campidoglio. Inside the forum is the market place and the public square where people speak from. From your everyday poet to even government officials. In fact, Capitoline Brutus did his famous speech in the square about the assassination of Julius Caesar before the fall of Rome. There are also lots of famous monuments inside the forum. One of these famous monuments is The Arch of Titus. The arch is to commemorate Emperor Titus when he took the the spoils from Jerusalem. Another monument is an altar where Caesar was laid to rest after his assassination. Speaking of Julius’s death, after the assassination the Roman Forum was was used less and less while Rome was falling apart. Now a days, the Forum is a tourist spot where thousands of people come to.
