Berlin 2018

Today, a great tragedy occurred.

I left half a pizza in the company fridge on accident and it got thrown away :(

For lunch, my company invited me to a celebratory 'yay we have a new intern' meal at an Italian place next to our building. I ordered a sausage pizza, which evidently in Germany is just pepperoni. Nevertheless, it was a very good pizza. I pretended to be a local and ate it with a knife and fork instead of just picking it up like an American. But I couldn't finish the whole thing, and fully intended to take it home for dinner. That didn't happen... I even walked past the company fridge on my way out! Oh well.

In other news, I got my first real programming assignment! At lunch, my German boss went on about how "this is a test to see how good you are" and "we picked you over another intern so I hope we made the right choice". I had to remind myself that he was not being mean, just German.

And anyway, I passed his test with flying colors ;)

I made an FAQ page for our website, which was actually not hard at all. I just had to put it together. I also found that the day is 100% less monotonous when you actually have something cool to work on. Maybe this job thing won't be so bad after all!
