Cultural landscapes depict the political, historical, and cultural atmosphere at the time. The Victor Emmanuel II adequately represents the climate of the rule under Mussolini. Although this cultural landscape is controversial and there are many negative opinions regarding this structure. However, it is important to keep in mind that the intent of studying and reviewing cultural landscapes is not to base it on popularity, but instead on the reflection of the culture at the time. This landscape accurately depicts Mussolini and his desire to transform the city of Rome in order to demonstrate his power and dominion over every Italian and every country around the world. He did not attempt to preserve the Roman Empire, in fact he

decided to build over it and make it even more ground in an attempt to signify that he was more powerful and more influential than the Roman Empire. The height of this landscape signifies the mentality of Mussolini and his leadership militaristically. The figures on the top are a reflection of the cultural landscapes from the Roman Empire depicting the favor of the gods on the Romans. The location of this cultural landscape is most significant. It was placed intentionally as to show the location which Mussolini rose to power and convinced the crowds via his rhetoric that he is the chose one to lead Rome back to success.
