Santa Sabina is a cultural landscape that represents the tensions between the church and human innovation. The building of Santa Sabina is a physical place based location signifying the transformation of the role and influence of the Church. Thomas Aquinas lived and worshiped at Santa Sabine, he ministered to Dominicans. Aquinas is the catalyst for the ability of faith and religion to coexist, instead of oppose each other. Aquinas challenged leaders of the church and of the faith not to be at war with science, but instead to form alliances and look for similarities. Many scholars argue that if it was not for the maturity and intellect of Aquinas, Christianity could have taken many steps backward. Santa Sabina is

the physical, tangible example of the role and influence of Aquinas. The church is much more simply than the other Basilicas. This signifies it was not a location based on showy religion or reputation; instead it was a place of deep thought and other coming doubts. It was a place the soul would go to breath, not to be enslaved to the gold ornate plating which other basilicas embodied. Santa Sabina sits upon a Hill and represents A City Upon A Hill because it served as an example for religious thought around the world.
