Another special update for the educational benefit of Abigail and Charlotte; an introduction to the bidet (pronounced “bi - day”).
When you walk into a bathroom in Europe it is not unusual to see what looks like two toilets. In fact, there is one toilet and one bidet. You don’t see a bidet in a public toilet or bathroom, but very often they are in hotel bathrooms.
A bidet is a special device that one uses to wash ones bottom after using the toilet. Some (like the one pictured) are like a basin that you fill with water. Then you sit on the bidet (facing toward the tap) and wash yourself. These seem to be the most common type.
There is another type that squirts water up towards your bottom, a bit like a fountain or a jet spray, to hose everything down for you.
Before you ask, Charlotte, the answer is, "no"; neither Koro nor Grandma have ever used a bidet.
Humans are fascinating creatures.
