Laters London - MC and JD's adventure back to NZ

It was certainly a lazy start to the day as we tested the muscles out after the hike yesterday. To our surprise they were actually not so bad! We had a wee coffee on the waterfront to hide from the rain before getting ready for our trip to Bergen.

While waiting for the bus to Rosendal, a friendly local struck up conversation with us at the bus stop, speaking about our travels, his travels and the local area in which he had grown up. Later in the conversation he just casually dropped in that he was previously a physio for the Norwegian speed skating team! Turns out he was also from Rosendal and became our own personal tour guide on the trip. In 45 minutes we drove under the Folgefonna Glacier, past a huge waterfall called Furebergsfossen and past the company that invented the current life boats that are used in shipping today. Quite a stunning ride from a local bus journey.

Rosendal has the smallest castle in Europe. Either so small we didn't see it or it was something to do with almost missing our ferry connection...But we made it! As things are small here, most

Odda to Bergen, Norway

It was certainly a lazy start to the day as we tested the muscles out after the hike yesterday. To our surprise they were actually not so bad! We had a wee coffee on the waterfront to hide from the rain before getting ready for our trip to Bergen.

people on the ferry had caught the bus so the ferry had waited for the bus to arrive even though it was late! We were on the express ferry to Bergen through the Fjords. A trip of about two hours. Another stunning journey. At one point there were kids waiting in their one man speed boats to play in the wake behind us as we zipped between islands in the fjords. Guess that is like riding your bike when you live on a tiny island.

We came into Bergen harbour under two very large bridges and found our airbnb was in a rather picturesque neighbourhood.

Two tired travellers wandered around to get our bearings and then caught the end of the sunset before bed. Sunset was at 10.50pm, but the days are getting shorter!
