Causes of the Great Depression

GOVERNMENT POLICIES
Christmas is around the corner and it aims to be a bleak one this year. I don't think we'll be able to scrape together much of anything to buy good food for dinner let alone presents. Honestly, it's present enough that we are managing to survive this economic downfall. I know many who are far worse then we are now. Those articles I was reading about the cause of all this, they finally made the government accountable for what's going on. If the government would have regulated business like it was meant to, then maybe they could have stopped overproduction before it became economic travesty. Or maybe the government could have put more effort into the farming business so the farm economy wouldn't collapse after World War I. Alongside sitting back and watching businesses make mistake after mistake, The government also issued high tariffs on exports hurting international trade and further hurting the global economy not just America's. High tariffs also had heavy effects on farm economy because they were no longer able to ship their surplus crops overseas. Everything that I've read so far continuously reminds me that this depression was a group effort in which all of America participated in.
