AFRICAN AMERICANS
My employers hired a new worker today. She's black. I don't understand why they hired her. There are plenty of more deserving people, white people, that they could have hired. The Africans pull stunts like this all the time. They constantly take our jobs, our money, our paycheck. We deserve that money. We need it to feed our families. Low lives like them don't deserve anything.

Racial discrimination continued well into the 1920s and increased during the great depression. They were last hired and the first fired. Their unemployment rate was higher then the national average. African Americans were generally more impoverished then whites. Despite the extreme poverty most of them shared, blacks were often excluded from state and local relief programs.
