It is the day of departure. We boarded our plane in Bellingham, changed planes in Seattle and departed SEA-TAC on Alaska Airlines for Boston at 10:40pm, arriving at 6:30am September 15.
An all night flight left us tired but we were excited to begin our exploration of Boston. After a quick breakfast and putting on our walking shoes, we headed for the subway station that would take us to Fenway Park. Let me just say this, Boston is a very confusing place. Fortunately the people were very helpful when we stopped to ask directions, which we did frequently.
Headed toward Fenway Park, I discovered I had left my phone and camera at the motel. Our only means of taking pictures was Lee's cell phone and his battery was almost dead. Getting off the subway, we walked a few blocks to Fenway Park. It wasn't game day, so only one gate was open to sell tickets for the park tour. We walked all the way around the park on the outside and finally found the only open ticket booth about 1/2 a block from where we started. Keep in mind by this time we had been awake for over 30 hours....
The tour was interesting. Lee loved it. It is the oldest Ball Park in Pro Baseball and one of the smallest. We trekked all around and up and down for an hour and 15 minutes. It was hot (in the 80's), no water and lots of stairs. If you love baseball do the tour, but I recommend you get a good night's sleep first.
