The Roman Forum is an incredible place, full of history. There are temples, senate buildings, and other historical places. One interesting aspect of the Roman Forum is the marker for the center of the world. In this spot, the ancient Romans declared Rome to be the very center of the known world. It was the beginning, it was mile marker one. From here, the rest of the world expanded. According to the leaders of the time, Rome was the most important, and every other city and town simply orbited around it. This is the perfect example of the Roman mindset. To the leaders of Rome, Rome was everything. It was all-powerful and all-important. No one could come close to the strength or greatness of the city of Rome. Clearly, Rome was not humble. I believe that it is dangerous to have this mindset. Ignoring your own weaknesses and flaws and failing to acknowledge where you can improve can only lead to your downfall. The center of the world shows that Rome thought they were untouchable. Yet later events in history prove that this was not entirely the case.
