The story of Rome tells the narrative of power, strength, and culture. But it is easy to gloss over the weaknesses of Rome and only see the successes of the city. I believe my artifacts show that, while Rome was certainly a great and successful city, they were not perfect and all powerful. I think that it is sometimes important to highlight Rome’s conflict, unnecessary extravagance, and flaws. Rome has undeniable history and influence, but the Roman mindset was not always accurate. This is clearly seen by my examples of art, architecture, public spaces, and neighborhoods. To hear the story of Rome is to hear it from all angles, not just one. All sides must be considered to gain the full picture and full understanding.
