Day 14
We wake to a damp and cold morning in Queenstown today - with a very cold night we are greeted to snow on the very high peaks which we are told is a rare occasion for this time of year. We make our way down to our local breakfast venue The Vudu Cafe and plan our day
The boys - Ross, Kim and myself off to play golf at the Queenstown Golf Club and the girls a bike ride from Arrowtown to Gibbson Winery approximately a 30km return ride - Melissa hires a Hardtail mountain bike, Joss hires an Electric version - and theirtrek begins, winding along the Arrow River and into the Gibbson Valley winery. The ride was quite undulating and Joss was very grateful for electric assistance as Melissa ”egg beats” her legs up the climbs and this is a

sure test of her fitness. They take in the breathtaking scenery with the rocky mountain tops above and the skinny bridges that cross the deep ravines below with the rapid river surging along - they pass the bungy jumping bridge watching the Japanese tourists taking the plunge of faith and they also pass paddocks full of goats, alpaccas and plenty of vineyards along the way . This was a very rewarding ride and a terrific experience.
With the golfers heading to The Queenstown Golf Course the scenic peninsula over looking the town and surrounded by the huge lake and the imposing Remarkables Mountain range- the weather is cold and windy with a frigid breeze from the south coming off the snow dabbled mountains and lake - The format is Ambrose again and with these very trying conditions and long holes into the wind the going is tough,an early bogey and some testing pars we scramble to a 1 over on the front nine - the weather abates slightly and the sun is out and our back nine sees us make a couple of birdies with Kim

having a great hole out from off the green and we finish one under for the back nine and we happily settle for a Par 72 - The views from all angles of the golf course are sublime and I would say I have never seen better from any other course I have played. A must for any golfer.
With some red wine, cheese and crackers back at our digs, we all tell our tales of the day. The crew opt for dinner at the upmarket food court in town, and afterwards they take the queue at Patagonia Ice Cream Parlour for a treat.
And the journey continues.
