Melissa and Barry’s New Zealand Travels 2023 -

Day4 We wake to a beautiful crisp sunny day in Blenhiem which is in the middle of The Marlborough Wine Country and home to Melissa’s favourite Sauvignon Blancs. Matua and Villa Maria.
Blenhiem is surrounded by mountain ranges and is in a fertile valley which originally was a crop growing area and has evolved into a premium wine growing region with rows and rows of vines and hundreds of wineries and some of the best labels in NZ.
With a morning walk along The Taylor river with the dogs - Bear and Poppie they chase and play together and wade in the pools of water that are in the dry riverbed which is a minor overflow river and a good gateway for mountain biking and hiking up the path that follow the stream into the distant ranges.
We take a drive into the Vinyards for some morning tea at Vines Village and a photo opportunity at the base of the Range amongst the neatly trimmed rows of vines, we take some down time before heading

to St Claire’s Winery for lunch and a real treat - first class service and meals as good as you could get anywhere, Melissa and Joss opting for the salad vegetarian versions and Ross and myself opting for Roast Pork - and a bottle Pinot Noir, The service, wine and food perfect!
Post lunch it’s a quick stop at The Local Chocolate factory for some macadamia chocolate crumble delights….. we then venture on for a drive up the valley and down to Picton where the North South Island Ferry travels which is located at the end of The Queen Charlotte Sound, very picturesque and beautiful. We meander through the shops, take a photo opp and head back home for a quiet night in - we enjoy some lovely home cooked lasagne and another day in our travels is enjoyed
