South of the South

From Dunedin through the Catlins, and my old friends Keith and Diana at Papatowai. Great to see them of course, and successfully surprised them. Stayed for a morning cuppa then moved on to Curio Bay, where a petrified forest is visible at low tide—but we were there at high tide! The tide also precluded a visit to Cathedral Cave, also on our To-See list. Next came McLean Falls, then Slope Point, the southernmost point of the South Island, then on to Invercargill.
Eventually found a motel with a vacancy, 295 on Tay, and it turned out to be a beauty—one of the best I've experienced: roomy, clean,

Day 3: Dunedin to Invercargill

Dunedin

From Dunedin through the Catlins, and my old friends Keith and Diana at Papatowai. Great to see them of course, and successfully surprised them. Eventually found a motel with a vacancy, 295 on Tay, and it turned out to be a beauty—one of the best I've experienced: roomy, clean,

and with a good Internet signal and a 5 GB allowance. Dinner at Speights Ale House.
