Jim did not wake up, (unbelievable!) I started counting the bongs (some people call them chimes). After I thought it must have BONGED 50 times already I counted another 50 more. Good Night! Our hotel served breakfast, for a price, 9 euro ($12) each, or you don’t eat in this town. It consisted of french bread (amazing but bread) jams, yogurt, cheese, juice and great coffee. After breakfast we toured the town and took more pictures than the town is long.
We set off to Yolande’s 3 hours away stopping for lunch at a creperie ‘La Chaloupe’. We used our iPhone’s French to English scanner on their menu and this time it was helpful. It took us about 15 min to figure out what we would order. Our crepes were huge, filling a dinner plate and yummy.
Late afternoon we arrived at Yolande’s place in Brittany and stayed for 4 wonderful days in Saint-Gildas-de-Rhuys . Her home is adorable and well laid out. The white house has French doors across the entire front each one framed in grape vines draped with spirals of green and purple grapes. The interior of the home is light, bright, open and well decorated combining the old French with the modern decor. We had the whole second floor to ourselves with a full bath and two bedrooms.
